Moving From Stress to Strategy with a Team

Team retreats to connect to each other and reinforce our shared purpose.

The Partnership

Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s Government Relations and Policy team operates in a fast-moving, high-stakes policy environment that demands clarity, resilience, and strong leadership at every level. PPFA offers team members annual professional development funds, enabling individuals to invest in leadership growth aligned with their roles and aspirations.

Through this structure, we’ve become one of their trusted coaching partners. Members of the team seeking personalized leadership development support can engage in a round of 5 coaching sessions with us.

The Challenge

Team members have been navigating increasing pressure and complexity. While cohort-based leadership programs can be valuable, this group needed a flexible, opt-in development option that allowed folks to engage at different times, at different career stages, and around distinct leadership challenges - all without requiring a single, centralized program.

Our Approach

We provide each team member who reaches out to us five one-on-one coaching sessions that team members can elect to use their professional development funds to support. Over time, we’ve coached more than a dozen leaders across the same team, each in a confidential, tailored coaching relationship.

Coaching has focused on:

  • Leadership presence and confidence

  • Navigating complexity and ambiguity

  • Managing relationships and difficult conversations

  • Aligning personal values with organizational leadership demands

This model has allowed us to stretch across one team, supporting many leaders simultaneously while honoring individual needs, goals, and pacing.

What This Demonstrates

This engagement highlights our ability to serve as a scalable professional leadership development option that:

  • Is opt-in and individualized, not one-size-fits-all

  • Leverages existing professional development funding

  • Supports multiple leaders within a single team over time

  • Builds leadership capacity in complex, mission-driven organizations

For organizations seeking flexible ways to invest in leadership without launching a full cohort program, this approach offers depth, accessibility, and meaningful impact.
